Here's to the happy couple!  The traditional gift for the tenth wedding anniversary is aluminum or tin.  This left me (as usual) scratching my head for ideas, but I decided we could go rent an aluminum boat at Lake Benson in Garner.  You just can't go wrong with all the nature you would possibly want for $3.00 an hour.  We saw a mother goose sitting on her giant nest, a big pile of beaver-chewed sticks, and some turtles.  But the real reason we were out there was so I could snap a photo of us on our tenth anniversary to go in the aluminum frame I was lucky enough to find at Target.

This morning, I set the photo on the dresser, and noticed right beside it our engagement photo.  Boy was that ever a reality check.  How we have aged in 11 years.  I noted over the weekend that I got married a full third of my life ago.  I guess I should expect to look a little different.  We went down to the coast for a weekend without the kids.  It was very quiet.  I got to finish reading my friend Matt Rogers' very good book When Answers Aren't Enough.  Now, the honeymoon's over, and it's back to life -- every happy, sad, difficult, celebratory, precious moment of it.

Aluminum/Tin? Well that's if you go by the Traditional list of gifts. I also
have a "Contemporary" list for you:
1- clocks
2- china
3-
crystal/glass
4- electrical appliances
5- silverware
6- wood
7- desk sets
8-
linens/laces
9- leather
10- diamond jewelry...

Yes that's actually the list I
have. Currently, I'm soon coming up on the Traditional "leather"
anniversary (or Contemporary "crystal/glass") on June 4th. So I need to
start thinking outside the box... or the boat. It's good to see RedGooseShoes
is/are? up again! Talk to you later!
